The fastest supercomputer in the state: Big Red 200

IU to dedicate new supercomputer as part of Bicentennial celebrations.

Big Red 200, IU’s new artificial intelligence supercomputer, will debut as part of IU’s Bicentennial event, “A Day of Commemoration: IU’s 200th Anniversary.” The dedication ceremony is free and open to the public.

Time: 10am
Location: Cyberinfrastructure Building, Bloomington campus, 2709 E. Tenth Street

IU President Michael A. McRobbie will preside over the ceremony, with additional remarks by:

  • Kay Connelly, associate dean for research, professor of informatics, IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering
  • Charles A. Morreale, senior vice president, field operations, Cray, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company
  • Bradley C. Wheeler, vice president for IT and chief information officer, vice president for communications and marketing, Indiana University

Internationally renowned security technologist to speak at Bloomington campus

Harvard security guru to headline year’s first Cybersecurity Speaker Series on January 30, 2020.

The Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research Speaker Series kicks off 2020 with a lecture from Bruce Schneier, a fellow and lecturer at Harvard’s Kennedy School and a public-interest technologist. The event will be co-hosted by the Ostrom Workshop.

Schneier works at the intersection of security, technology, and people, and is the author of more than a dozen books and hundreds of articles, essays, and academic papers. He is frequently interviewed by the media and has testified before Congress.

Just Duo it with the app

Set up automatic Duo Push for a faster way to log in to your Duo Mobile app.

If you are using the “call me” or “text me” option to log in to your IU account, there is a faster way to complete IU’s Two-Step Login.

The Duo Mobile app works even when you don’t have a network connection and can do automatic Duo Push notifications when you do. Check “Remember me for 7 days” when logging in to reduce the number of times you need to use Duo.

Faculty are reminded to set up NameCoach assignment

Encourage students to record their names as classes get under way.

NameCoach is a tool designed to help instructors and students learn how to pronounce names. Students, faculty, and staff can also use it to specify and share gender pronouns.

Faculty: The Scholars Book Fair is coming to all IU campuses

Relive the fun of the school book fair at the Scholars Book Fair.

Learn about affordable content, from digital learning tools to eTexts to library resources, and check out virtual reality and 3D printing demos. Faculty members will also have the chance to earn Scholar Dollars to trade in for prizes or treats.
